The real Daft Punk haven’t toured Australia since 2007 and it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen anytime soon, but that’s ok because there’s an excellent tribute show doing the rounds and they’re touring nationwide in July.
Discovery are an Australian duo, made up of Damian Andres and Matt Campbell, paying tribute to Daft Punk, complete with those shiny helmets. Last year they toured on the bill for Listen Out festival but this time around they’re doing their own tour inspired by the French duo’s 2010 movie soundtrack for TRON: Legacy.
The French duo made a brief cameo in that movie wearing white, spaceman-like suits and by the looks of it, Discovery will be sporting the same look.
They are boasting a travelling light show and stage effects as well as a TRON-centred setlist. There will also be other hits cherry-picked from the Daft Punk catalogue.
Eight dates have been announced so far but they’re also promising more. Currently, Canberra, Perth, Sydney, Bondi, Melbourne, Adelaide and Eatons Hill all have the Discovery tribute shows coming their way. Check out all the details below.
