Daniel Andrews Confirms Michael Gudinski Will Have A State Funeral In Victoria

Legendary music promoter Michael Gudinski will have a state funeral in Victoria, Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has confirmed.

The news comes after his shocking passing yesterday at 68-years-old.

Andrews confirms that Michael Gudinksi’s family agreed to the state funeral, saying he had a chat with Michael Gudinski’s wife Sue.

“I went and saw Sue last night and offered her and the family a state funeral for an amazing Victorian,” said the Premier.

“It will be a celebration of his life; the details will be finalised in coming days.

“It’s got to be COVID-safe of course, but I think we will be able to come together in an iconic venue and celebrate his life and the mark that he made and the legacy he leaves.”

Michael Gudinksi died at age 68, with his wife and two children surviving him.

He made such a huge impact on the Australian music industry with tributes pouring out. They remember him as having the biggest passion for music and supporting artists, as well as being full of life.

Yesterday, Jimmy Barnes, Hilltop Hoods, Briggs, Myf Warhurst and more paid tribute to the industry veteran.

Daniel Andrews said, “Few people – if any – have shaped the Australian music industry more than Michael Gudinski.”

“His was the beating heart of the Victorian scene, and his irrepressible spark entertained our state for 50 years.”

Bruce Springsteen shared a tribute to Michael Gudinski as well.

“But I could hear him clear as a bell when he would say, ‘Bruce, I’ve got you covered.’ And he always did,” wrote Springsteen.

“He was loud, always in motion, intentionally (and unintentionally) hilarious, and deeply soulful.”
