Dave Grohl Reckons Ghosts Almost Ruined The Recording Of The New Foo Fighters Album

The recording of Foo Fighters‘ 10th studio album saw the band face some opposition from some spooky opponents.

Frontman Dave Grohl recently told NME that while recording the album in a house in Encino, California, weird stuff began to happen to the the band’s equipment.

To start with, Grohl merely thought that the “vibe was off”, and a whole bunch of explained stuff would follow.

“When we walked into the house in Encino, I knew the vibes were definitely off but the sound was fucking on,” said Grohl.

Grohl said that their sessions on ProTools would be randomly missing tracks, and their instruments would become detuned for no apparent reason.

“We started working there and it wasn’t long before things started happening. We would come back to the studio the next day and all of the guitars would be detuned,” he added.

“Or the setting we’d put on the board, all of them had gone back to zero. We would open up a Pro Tools session and tracks would be missing. There were some tracks that were put on there that we didn’t put on there.”

After that, tracks started appearing out of nowhere… “just like weird open mic noises. Nobody playing an instrument or anything like that, just an open mic recording a room.”

“And we’d fucking zero in on sounds within that. And we didn’t hear any voices or anything really decipherable. But something was happening.”

Suspecting some paranormal activity, the Fooeys then set up a baby monitor when they left the house, and eventually set up a nest cam which showed “things… we couldn’t explain…”

After speaking to the landlord, Grohl said “I had to sign a fucking non-disclosure agreement with the landlord because he’s trying to sell the place.

“So, I can’t give away what happened there in the past but these multiple occurrences over a short period of time made us finish the album as quickly as we could.”

Earlier this month Grohl was pretty stoked about the band’s first record since 2017’s Concrete & Gold.

He told Kerrang that it was “unlike anything we’ve ever done” and will “bring everyone’s fucking hearts together”.

“I’m fucking excited for people to hear it and I can’t wait to jump on that fucking stage to play it,” said Grohl.
