Dave Grohl sings Nirvana songs for anniversary

Dave Grohl has teamed up with Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic and Nevermind producer Butch Vig to re record Nirvana songs during the recent Foo Fighters Wasting Light sessions. The recordings will be released as part of the 20th anniversary repackaging of Nirvana’s 1991 album Nevermind. The Album is due to be released in September and features B-sides, studio outtakes and other rarities.

Butch Vig :

“We hadn’t actually worked together since Nevermind so warming up with those songs made a funny sort of sense. The intention was never to record them, we were running through those songs to loosen up and to test the sounds we were pulling. After the sessions ended i rediscovered the versions and thought it made sense to release them.”

Grohl plays guitars and sings, Novoselic on bass and Foo Fighters’ drummer Taylor Hawkins plays drums. The songs covered were Lithium, Stay Away, Drain You, In Bloom and Lounge Act.
