David Helfgott Announces 2024 Australian Tour

David Helfgott, the world-renowned pianist who was the inspiration behind the Academy Award-winning film “Shine”, is all set to do an Australian farewell tour this July. 

“I’m incredibly privileged to tour David on his farewell tour so he has an opportunity to see his fans once more”,  says Andrew Kay AM (Promoter). Helfgott is going to perform his favourite solo works of Chopin and Liszt and is also set to perform Rachmaninov’s third piano concerto in its version for two pianos.

This tour is going to be the end of the remarkable journey of David as one of the greatest pianists of all time. From an early age he had amazing piano skills. He was a student of Royal College of Music in London. There he was awarded as the most brilliant student in 25 years. He could not complete his degree due to his illness, however his resilience and love for music made him a renowned name globally. 

His recordings have topped the charts. His recording of Rachmaninov Third Piano Concerto, has been at the top of both the classical music and pop music charts in Australia,  as well as in the UK and the USA and he has toured extensively throughout Australia and New Zealand and also Europe. He also has an amazing audience in countries like Turkey, Hungary, Austria, Switzerland, Denmark and in the UK.

  • Thursday, 4th July – Melbourne Recital Centre
  • Sunday, 7th July – Perth Concert Hall
  • Sunday, 28th July – QPAC Concert Hall, Brisbane
  • Sunday, 4th August – City Recital Hall, Sydney
  • Sunday, 11th August – Adelaide Town Hall (Solo performance)
