The moral compass of today’s musical landscape, Deadmau5, has once again thrown his two cents into the mix. We may not have asked for them, but dammit, we got ’em. In an interview with Vibe magazine, the outspoken producer has vented on a number of topics ranging from the term EDM, Tommy Lee, and of course Kanye West.
Since its introduction, the phrase Electronic Dance Music, or EDM, has snuck its way into common use, much to the dispair of Deadmau5 as it seems, who commented that he has found a new meaning for the abbreviation, “I just renamed it. I called it “Event Driven Marketing.” which might only be funny to those in the know, but point taken Zimmerman.
Deadmau5 is in the news more for what he says these days than what he plays. You can be sure that a Deadmau5-related headline is never far away, and as it turns out, he’s getting advice from the king of bad publicist…“If I’m having problems with my label, I can always talk to Tommy Lee, who’s been sued more times than anyone I know. It makes my life not feel so fucking bad.”
According to Electro Jam, Zimmerman was in town for some gigs, but it is yet to be announced which gigs it will be, though we can straight up confirm that he won’t be collaborating with Kanye West, in fact, we can confirm it will be “Anyone other than fucking Kanye. I fucking hate him.” So I guess that means he…won’t be featuring on Yeeze’s new album? I can’t tell.
