Deadmau5 To Play Ultra Music Festival, Less Than A Year After Slamming It

Talk about a turnaround.

After describing it as “the definition of insanity” back in January, Deadmau5 has changed his tune on America’s Ultra Music Festival, locking himself in as the third act to play the event in March 2013.

The electro house star confirmed his appearance at the mega dance festival via Twitter, with Billboard reporting that he will play “night-closing sets” on March 16 and 23.

“Well, I caved in…. There was just too many of you guys asking me to play at ultra this year, so im doin it for you guys! 🙂 viva la horde,” he tweeted.

It’s a far cry from Deadmau’s 12-minute long video rant about the festival at the start of the year. The electro house star slammed the price of the VIP tickets to the festival, which were priced at $595.

“Ultra to me is the definition of insanity – doing the same fucking thing every year, expecting different results every time,” he said.

“It’s fun and it’s cool, and if you’ve never been, go. But if you are one of those dudes that go every year, it’s like, why would you go again?”

“Five hundred and ninety-five fucking dollars for a ticket? Wow, someone is laughing to the bank.”

Deadmau5 joins Armin Van Burren and Swedish House Mafia (who are playing the final shows of their ‘One Last Tour’) as the only confirmed acts for Ultra Music Festival. The event takes place March 15-17 and March 22-24 in Miami. For more information on the event, check out the official website here.
