Dealer Connected To Mac Miller’s Fatal Overdose Sentenced To 17 Years In Prison

Hip hop artist Mac Miller died in 2018 at the age of 26. Miller died in his home in Los Angeles’ Studio City district. The LA County Coroner later determined that Miller had died from an accidental drug overdose. The drugs found in his system were fentanyl, cocaine, and alcohol, per Rolling Stone.

Three men were subsequently arrested on charges of fentanyl distribution in relation to Miller’s death. One of those men, Stephen Walter, sold the fentanyl-containing counterfeit oxycodone pills (known as “blues”) to Cameron Pettit. Pettit then sold the pills to Miller.

As Rolling Stone reports, the 49-year-old Walter has now been sentenced to seventeen years and six months in prison. Walter’s sentencing took into account the fact that he continued to sell cocaine and “blues” following Miller’s death.

Last month, another drug dealer, Ryan Reavis, who was also connected to the distribution of the drugs that brought about Miller’s death, was sentenced to nearly eleven years in prison.

In 2019, the AP reported that Cameron Pettit pleaded not-guilty to delivering counterfeit oxycodone pills to Miller. If convicted, Pettit will face a minimum sentence of 20 years with the possibility of life in prison without parole.

Mac Miller’s final album, Circles, was completed by producer Jon Brion after Miller’s death. It came out in January 2020.
