Hard rock titans Mötley Crüe and Def Leppard brought their global co-headline tour to Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne in the first half of November. The two bands have been regular touring pals over the last 18 months – they managed to sell 1.3 million tickets to their 2022 North American tour.
Australian fans first sensed a Mötley Crüe tour announcement was coming when, in December 2022, Crüe bass player Nikki Sixx tweeted that 2023 would include “some more US shows-Latin America-Europe UK-Japan and Australia…”
Def Leppard – ‘Pour Some Sugar On Me’
The current Mötley Crüe lineup includes Sixx and fellow founding members Vince Neil (vocals) and Tommy Lee (drums). Guitarist Mick Mars announced his retirement from touring in October 2022 for health reasons. Heavy metal gun-for-hire John 5 has taken his place.
Yorkshire rock outfit Def Leppard is led by vocalist Joe Elliott alongside bass player Rick Savage and drummer Rick Allen. They continue to work with long-serving guitarists Phil Collen and Vivian Campbell.
