Three decades since their formation as Girls Tyme, Destiny’s Child are reportedly in talks for a reunion, according to British tabloid The Mirror.
While the rumour comes from a somewhat dubious place – the tabloid citing an anonymous source – the trio of Beyonce Knowles Carter, Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams are apparently considering reuniting for one final reunion tour. “There’s been tentative talks between all three,” claimed the anonymous source.
“They’ve always said they would get back together one day when the time is right – and there is no time like the present,” continued the source, who went on to add that while nothing is confirmed, fans should “watch out for an announcement” after the coronavirus pandemic reaches its end.
Destiny’s Child have been on an indefinite hiatus since 2006, but have have briefly reunited twice – during the 2013 Super Bowl halftime show and again during Beyoncé’s iconic 2018 Coachella set.
Last year, Rowland responded to the persistent rumours about the trio reforming, telling Entertainment Tonight, “I’ve got nothing up my sleeve, I promise you.”
“Can we, like, have surprises in this day and age? I mean, I’m just saying. I just find it so interesting, everybody wants to know in advance.”
“I know every time there is a decision to be made for myself and the ladies to do something, it’s usually a surprise. And our fans have always been so supportive and so awesome, like, I like to give them surprises.”
