DevilDriver's Dez Fafara Defends Soundwave Boss AJ Maddah, Confirms 2016 Australian Tour Plans

Heavy metal identity Dez Fafara has come to the aid of embattled Soundwave boss AJ Maddah, who’s continuing to cop industrial levels of flack following the festival’s cancellation.

Fafara, who’d become a fixture on the SW lineup over the years (performing with DevilDriver in 2009, 2011, and 2014 and his other band, Coal Chamber in 2012) has defended the promoter on social media.

When asked by a fan on Twitter what his thoughts were on the whole “Soundwave fiasco”, Fafara backed Maddah, describing him as a friend and a “class act”, saying he was “bummed” that the festival, which “helped a ton of bands”, has now come to an end, and confessing that – when he sees keyboard warriors slagging AJ – he wants to climb through the computer screen and attack them like Freddy Krueger:

It comes pretty much straight after Maddah copped a spray from Ministry frontman Al Jourgensen, who labelled him a “lying scumbag”.

Fafara, meanwhile, had been contemplating playing Soundwave 2016 with Coal Chamber prior to the festival’s cancellation, but decided he needed to take a break from touring to spend time with his family instead.

In happier news, the frontman has also just confirmed plans to tour Australia with DevilDriver soon, announcing via Twitter that the band are plotting a headlining run of shows for 2016, which is also when their seventh studio album Trust No One is scheduled to be released.
