UPDATE 07/04/17: This year’s Splendour In The Grass sideshows have been announced. View the full list, here.
ORIGINAL STORY: This year’s list of Splendour In The Grass sideshows is set to be announced tomorrow, but a handful of the festival’s biggest acts may have already had their Aussie headline shows teased a day early.
With Splendour 2017 now completely sold out, sideshows are the only way that some fans are going to be able to see their favourite bands in action this July.
That said, two acts on this year’s Splendour lineup — rapper ScHoolboy Q and synthpop idols Future Islands — definitely won’t be announcing any Splendour sideshows, after they were announced on the Splendour roster with “ONLY AUS SHOW” next to their names.
The good news is that the majority of acts playing Splendour this year could still announce sideshows down under. So, without further ado, here are the acts who may have already had their sideshows teased…
Queens Of The Stone Age
Today, Aussie touring company Frontier Touring shared a mysterious image, captioned with, “Darwin, Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland… keep your eyes peeled.”

The connection here is that ‘Keep Your Eyes Peeled’ is the name of a song on …Like Clockwork, the latest album by Splendour 2017 headliners Queens Of The Stone Age. If the post is about the band, then we could well see them play headline sideshows in Sydney, Melbourne, Darwin and Auckland later this year.
QOTSA haven’t performed down under since their 2014 co-headline tour with Nine Inch Nails, and their new album has reportedly just been finished, so they should have some new material to show off come July.
Royal Blood
Frontier Touring has also teased what appears to be news of sideshows from English rockers Royal Blood, by posting audio of their song ‘Figure It Out’ alongside the cover art from their self-titled album and the caption, “Soon.”

Royal Blood last performed in Australia as part of Splendour In The Grass 2015, but didn’t play any sideshows while they were down under, so they’re definitely due for a trip around the country.
Two Door Cinema Club
Yesterday, Irish indie-rockers Two Door Cinema Club shared a gif of the Australian flag and the word “incoming”. It’s a little more tenuous than QOTSA and Royal Blood’s teases, but the group haven’t performed in Australia in a while.
The band were meant to play at Splendour back in 2014, but cancelled their trip to Australia after their frontman Alex Trimble fell ill.
Since then, Two Door have released their latest album Gameshow, so some 2017 Splendour sideshows would definitely be a welcome announcement for fans.
