The Hoodoo Gurus‘ very own music festival Dig It Up is returning for 2013 and is set to be just as big – nay, bigger – than its inaugural 2012 event. The Gurus will be touring with a selection of 20 or so acts, including Buzzcocks, Flamin’ Groovies and Blue Oyster Cult (of (Don’t Fear) The Reaper fame), who will be coming Down Under for the first time ever for the fest.
The festival will run for a total of 6 shows and will stop off in most major mainland cities, however every gig will be slightly different. Some cities will get a show with all the headliners, some will only get a few. You can check out the details in the tour dates below.
Don’t worry – every city has an awesome show to look forward to, as Blue Oyster Cult will be at every gig apart from Perth and Adelaide, and the reunited Flamin’ Groovies will be performing at most shows, making this their first run of live dates since the early 80s. On top of that, some cities will bear witness to the Gurus second album Mars Needs Guitars in full, with their classic hits to be played on either side of that.
Performing with the aforementioned acts will be Peter Case (performing hits from his time with both The Nerves and The Plimsouls) as well as Aussie acts The Stems, who have also just reformed. There are expected to be more additions to the lineup in the coming weeks, but it’s already starting to take shape.

Dig it UP! Sydney and Melbourne line-ups have been bolstered with the addition of more acts then you’d care to poke a stick at (in these trying times where poking sticks rental prices are through the roof).
Sydney Dig it Up! now includes local 80s punk band Lime Spiders, American rockers and masked heroes The Crusaders, garage pop trio Bloods and the untameable Super Wild Horses
Melbourne Dig it Up! will also feature Super Wild Horses in addition to “post-punk supergroup of nobodies” The Moodists, Melbourne prodigy Bored Nothing, Straight Arrows, Chris Russell’s Chicken Walk and Ron S. Peno and The Superstitions.
More announcements are soon to follow for Brisbane, Gold Coast, Adelaide and Perth.
