Ding Dong Lounge Will Re-Open in July, 2012

Mess and Noise have reported that Melbourne venue the Ding Dong Lounge is just about ready to re-open its doors, getting back to business July, 2012. Closure of the venue came in June of 2011 after a fire, which began in a restaurant positioned next to the Ding Dong Lounge, caused damage to the venue and forced it to cancel all trading until repairs were completed. At the time the estimated damage caused to the building was $500,000.

Now just over a year later, Ding Dong’s doors will finally reopen, with the venue boasting some impressive sounding features. These include a 300-capacity gig room, saloon bar, a disco room with sunken dance floor, and a newly designed garden balcony.

The new look Ding Dong Lounge will be opened by Mark Lanegan, coming to Australia for a one-off performance July 6. Rock outfit Stonefield will also be playing the reopened Ding Dong Lounge on July 7.

The Ding Dong Lounge originally opened its doors in 1998, and in that time has featured an array of incredible artists, including Children Collide, The Kills and The White Stripes.
