Late Divinyls frontwoman Chrissy Amphlett is set to be inducted into The Age Music Victoria Awards Hall Of Fame in November, in recognition of her contribution to the state’s music scene.
Amphlett, who was honoured with a Melbourne laneway named after her in 2015, will be inducted during this year’s The Age Music Victoria Awards on Wednesday, 21st November.
“Chrissy has a Melbourne city street named after her and a mural in her hometown of Geelong, and it’s about time she was inducted into the Age Music Victoria Hall of Fame,” says Music Victoria CEO Patrick Donovan.
“While she may have left us five years ago, her influence lives on in acts such as Amyl and the Sniffers, Ella Hooper and Dallas Frasca.”
Chrissy Amplett’s induction will include a special performance from Ella Hooper with Dallas Frasca, and a speech from Little Pattie.
Amphlett follows in the footsteps of fellow inductees like Molly Meldrum, John Farnham, AC/DC, Olivia Newton John, Archie Roach and Paul Kelly.
Amplett died in April 2013, after living with breast cancer and multiple sclerosis.
Public voting for the 2018 The Age Music Victoria Awards will close at midnight on Friday, 9th November.
The ceremony will take place at Melbourne Recital Centre on Wednesday, 21st November. View the full list of this year’s nominees, below.
