Donald Glover AKA Childish Gambino is set to touch down in Australia later this month for appearances at Splendour In The Grass, the festival’s single-leg Adelaide sidekick, Spin Off and sideshows of his own.
After cancelling his 2018 tour due to a foot injury he suffered from during a show, these shows are set to be the first time he’s returned to Australian shores for some time.
Glover is also gearing up for the release of the live-action remake of The Lion King, where he plays Simba.
He stopped into Jimmy Kimmel Live on Wednesday night for an interview promoting the film. Not only talking the part, but looking the part too, Glover sported a camp lion-onesie throughout the interview.
During their chat, he touched on his upcoming Australian tour and the future of the Childish Gambino project, amidst rumours that he would not be continuing the project.
When asked about the end of the project, he responded “I think I’m still going to do shows, I’m not quite sure. I mean, I broke my foot. I had to make up these shows, but I love music, I really love making music.”
He recently collaborated with Beyoncé (who plays Nala) for a cover of ‘Can You Feel The Love Tonight’ for the film. He joked that he requested not to be in the same room as her during the recording, saying “I did not want to be looking into Beyoncé’s eyes…”
Don’t expect to hear any of the duets in person anytime soon, Disney’s got a tight leash on those.
In other Childish Gambino news, the rapper today announced that Compton-born artist Channel Tres will act as support at his Melbourne and Sydney shows.
