Following on from a first round announcement that included an embarrassingly wealthy store of local artists, including Regular John, playing one of their few shows before going into the studio to work on their new album, with the rest of the line-up featuring a varied cross section of what’s happening in the local music scene with the likes of Mother & Son playing up against Big Dumb Kid, first lady of local rock Kira Puru & The Bruise sharing stages with beatsmith Nakagin and live dance outfit Disco Club, Zaire Records and Chocolate Jesus Industries are proud to release the second announcement of artists for Double Dragon IV, set to take place this Friday Oct 14th at Q Bar.
Currently working on their second EP, Old Men Of Moss Mountain have decided to join the fray on this one, bringing their, and I quote, ‘gangsta-forest-pop’ take on hip hop to the Double Dragon IV family. Also along for the ride are blissed-out beats duo Albatross, relentless rockers Tombstone and the man behind Cabaret Callado and Seagreen Talks, Seagreen Clarence, giving a rare solo acoustic performance.
On top of all this, Double Dragon has sprouted another head in the form of the Rest Area, a new stage designed to offer punters somewhere to relax and enjoy a selection of some of the best chilled and ambient artists. Headlining is the exquisite electronic pop songstress Moon Holiday, who’ll be joined by Lost Valentino Jono Ma and the stunning and silk wrapped Ki Mono.
Curating the stage will be local fashion designer bou who, following on from her recent show at Changing Lanes, will be putting together a special installation for the night. A individual of boundless creativity, expect something otherworldly and charming at the same time, much like the music.
To wrap everything up nicely, video artist Joel Burrows will be showering us with some of his twisted visions, his kaleidoscopic explosions of form and colour set to usher in the transition from ambient to something a little more grittier.
With entry only $10 with live music scheduled to run from 8pm till 2am, Double Dragon IV explores the breadth of the music community here in Sydney, delivering a sampler of the best new music the city has to offer.
