The massive bushfire relief benefit concert ‘Down To Earth’ took place yesterday at Melbourne’s Sidney Myer Music Bowl, and it raised an absolute ton of money. Over one million dollars, to be exact.
Featuring performances by Gang Of Youths, Thelma Plum, Angus & Julia Stone, Jack River, Tash Sultana, Briggs and Ruby Fields, the event raised over $1 million with donations still coming in.
Additionally, due to merchandise at the event sold out within hours of gates opening, so the event is making a second release of merch which you can pre-order now via Space Mirror.
The event was live streamed on YouTube, and 670,000 people tuned in to watch. In fact, the video is still trending at #27 on Youtube.
‘Down To Earth’ sold out not long after tickets went on sale, and 12,100 people filled out the Sidney Myer Music Bowl. Funds raised through the event will be going to Red Cross, WIRES, Wildlife Victoria, Emergency Leaders for Climate Action, Foundation for Rural and Regional Renewal and Firesticks Alliance Indigenous Corporation (Firesticks).
