Ash Grunwald has teamed up with the rhythm section of The Living End to cover Gnarls Barkley’s 2006 classic, Crazy. A long time friend of Living End bassist Scott Owen, Grunwald turned to his mate to take on the smash single and rework Crazy into a rock ‘n’ rolling, blues ‘n’ roots slamma’ jamma’.
Rather than putting the call out for a drummer, the duo simply nabbed Owen’s Living End bandmate, the hi-hat-hitting, snare-striking, cymbal-clashing Andy Strachan. Together the 3 accomplished Aussie musicians headed into Melbourne studio Red Door Sounds, co-owned by Living End frontman, Chris Cheney, to record their version of Crazy.
What’s truly crazy is that Grunwald, Owen and Strachan are giving the track away for free – and you know they gots to pay royalties on that shit! You can download the cover below and all it’ll cost you is the click of a button… and possibly additional fees for exceeding your download limit.
Of course there is a method to their madness. The trio have offered up the cover to promote a soon-to-be announced national tour that will see Grunwald backed by the Living End (minus Cheney). Keep and eye on Feeds for when the tour is announced.
