Millionaire entrepreneur Dr. Dre and bankrupt rapper 50 Cent are being sued P.I.M.P. released all the way back in 2003.
The track from 50’s debut Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ reportedly uses a beat by Producer Brandon Parrott who was never credited for his efforts.
According to Pitchfork, Parrott sent tracks to Aftermath Entertainment, Dre’s label, in 2001 including one titled BAMBA which was the one that ended up on P.I.M.P. two years later.
At the time he was told the production was used by mistake and he signed a settlement based on that but more than a decade later he’s decided he was taken advantage of.
It’s probably not the best time for both Dre and 50 to be facing a lawsuit. 50 is apparently broke and Dre is facing another lawsuit from Jerry Heller who said he never gave permission for his likeness to be used in Straight Outta Compton.
P.I.M.P. was a huge hit for 50 Cent when it was released. It entered the top 10 in most countries around the world, getting to number two in Australia and number three in the US.
