Drake’s Honestly, Nevermind Album Breaks New Streaming Record

Drake’s new album might not be to everyone’s tastes, but the statistics are begging to differ.

The release of his seventh studio record Honestly, Nevermind on last Friday (June 17) had fans and casual commentators in a chokehold for the weekend and it wasn’t long before it divided listeners. Light on the rapping, heavy on the dance and club influences, Honestly, Nevermind is another classic Drake move of doing something completely on his own time.

Since its release, Honestly, Nevermind has obliterated the record for first-day streams globally for a dance record on Apple Music. In a statement released this week, Apple Music shared that Drake had previously held the record, with Certified Lover Boy being recognised by Apple for achieving the most first-day streams worldwide for an album, period.

Responding to criticism that Honestly, Nevermind is neither club enough for the club demographic, nor rap enough for the longtime fans, Drake’s said that…well he doesn’t really care.

“It’s all good if you don’t get it yet,” he has since said. “It’s all good. That’s what we do, we wait for you to catch up. We’re in here though, we caught up already. On to the next. My goodness!”

Honestly, Nevermind comes at a stacked 14 track run list, with 21 Savage remaining the only featured artist – performing on the track ‘Jimmy Cooks’.
