Drake Taken To Task Over New Song Which Disses Kid Cudi, Who’s In Rehab With Depression

UPDATE 26/10/16: Despite being called out by countless fans over his decision to target Kid Cudi’s mental health in his diss track, Drake has made it clear he’s not about to apologise anytime soon.

ORIGINAL STORY: Drake announced this morning that he is going to release a new project called More Life in December, and he also dropped three new songs, but it seems not everyone is happy about them.

One of the songs, Two Birds One Stone (below), features a line that’s been taken as a supposed jab at fellow rapper Kid Cudi, who is currently in rehab for mental health issues, and fans reckon it’s a low blow.

“You were the Man on the Moon, now you just go through your phases. Life of the angry and the famous,” Drake raps on the track, making reference to Cudi’s first and most popular record Man On The Moon.

Drake hasn’t come at Cudi completely unprovoked. In September, Cudi tweeted, “Everyone thinks they’re soooo great. Talkin top 5 and be having 30 people write songs for them,” further clarifying that those comments were about Kanye and Drake specifically.

Kanye was initially cut up, but he made amends by saying, “I just wanted to take this time out to say Kid Cudi is my brother and I hope he’s doing well.”

Drake, however, hasn’t been quite as forgiving, going right ahead and dropping this track much to the bewilderment of many in the Twitter world.

Fans think that it’s a pretty bad move to diss somebody while they’re battling mental health issues, even if it was Cudi that started the beef. Some are also interpreting that Drake is labelling depression as a “phase”.

While the overwhelming majority of tweets express the sentiments above, there are some fans who are defending Drake, saying that Cudi attacked him first.

Cudi checked in to rehab last month telling fans, “I checked myself into rehab for depression and suicidal urges.”

While he hasn’t spoken since then, it has been announced that he will play his first show since checking himself into rehab on 5th November.
