Dropkick Murphys and Frank Turner have announced a fusion of their incredble folk-punk powers for a run of dates to fill in the blanks while in town for Bluesfest. Joining the two on the highways of Australia will be the recently reunited punk kings Swingin’ Utters.
You just know you’re going to have a great time watching Dropkick Murphys. Their arrival Down Under will co-incide nicely with the release of the next studio effort SIGNED and SEALED in BLOOD. Described as the ‘last 30 seconds of a Stanley Cup hockey game: frenetic and dangerous’ its clear that even after 8 albums, and a bazillion years as hard-out musical legends, they’ve still got it. No strangers to our stages, the full seven-piece will be bringing their same out-of-control Bluesfest show all throughout the land.
Fans went nuts when it was announced that UK’s Frank Turner would be performing at the Byron Bay festival. Turner has experienced a euphoric 2012. Performing at the London Olympic Games Opening Ceremony, the musician captured the attention of the globe, bringing his unique take on the folk punk genre into households of millions. Since then, Turner has been hard at it, working away on his currently unnamed fifth album. Amongst all that, he has also found the time and headspace to debut his hardcore project Mongol Horde at Leeds and Reading Festivals.
Part of the Fat Wreck Chords clique, Swingin’ Utters are 2 years in after a lengthy hiatus. Returning in 2010 with Here, Under Protest, the band saw no reason to stop, and have since announced plans to once again enter the studio in the coming months. This run of dates will mark the group’s first ever Aussie ‘business’ trip.
