Dune Rats Unleash Heavy New Track ‘Crazy’, Announce New Album Details

Brisbane surf rockers Dune Rats have confirmed third studio album Hurry Up and Wait is on the way, locking in a Friday, 31st January release date for the follow-up to 2017 breakout The Kids Will Know It’s Bullshit.

They’ve also shared new single ‘Crazy’, following up from the album’s lead single ‘No Plans’ as well as ‘Rubber Arm’.

“Crazy is one of our heavier songs that we wrote over in LA when we were surrounded by a lot of excess,” says the band about the new song.

“Everyone is doing anything and everything because it’s available, whether it’s taking drugs, eating shitty food or being surrounded by technology. All this stuff at the end of the day, whilst awesome at the time, doesn’t leave you any better off even if it feels that way in the moment.”

Hurry Up and Wait appears to have caught the Dunies in an evolutionary phase, reflecting the changes in the band’s personal lives.

“We don’t want to be the ‘Scott Green’ band forever,” explains lead singer Danny Beus.

“We didn’t set out to make a big album, or a polished album, or an album about partying because the last one did alright, or an album not about partying because we want to get away from that. It’s just writing about different stuff in our lives. It was always just going to be Dunies.”

After returning from a brief stint in America, the band eschewed super-producers for familiar faces, finding a producer in Violent Soho‘s James Tidswell, along with engineer Mitch Kenny, producer/songwriter Miro Mackie and mixer Mike Green.

The band say Tidswell was instrumental in encouraging them to explore different styles on the LP, pushing them to “really try to make a record that we’re proud of.”
