Paralympian Dylan Alcott has announced he will be taking a break from triple j presenting duties in 2019, as he prepares to compete at the Tokyo Paralympics in 2020.
The tennis superstar joined triple j in 2017 as a regular guest and sports presenter on Weekend Arvos and triple j Breakfast with Ben and Liam, but announced on Wednesday that he will be stepping back from the broadcaster in 2019.
“It’s been a really tough decision, but [I’ve] just got so much on my plate that unfortunately I won’t be coming back here on a regular basis, but just wanted to say a humongous and huge thank you to everybody at triple j that gave me an opportunity,” Alcott told listeners on Wednesday morning.
“It was a massive gamble to give me a shot, which I really appreciate,” he said.
“I’m not disappearing forever, but just unfortunately won’t be in here every week as I have been and then doing the fill-ins. It’s a bit sad, because I’ve absolutely loved every second of it.
“It’s been my big dream and passion to help mainstream disability in the media, and this is one of the best things that I’ve ever got to do.”
In a further statement posted to his social media, Alcott again thanked triple j for their support, and told listeners, “I’ll miss ya, but I’ll be seeing you soon.”

During his time at triple j, Alcott has raised almost $200,000 for charity through his Ability Fest music festival, while constantly proving himself as one of the biggest Wu-Tang Clan fans in the country.
