What a devastating couple of weeks it’s been for the music and entertainment industry.
It brings us great sadness to report that the world has lost yet another legend, in The Eagles‘ guitarist Glenn Frey.
The musician, who founded the iconic American rock group alongside bandmates Don Henley, Bernie Leadon, and Randy Meisner in 1971, had passed away at the age of 67.
TMZ reports that Frey succumbed to complications from intestinal issues, which he previously underwent surgery for back in November.
As a singer, songwriter, guitarist, keyboardist and founding member of the Eagles, Frey was responsible for bringing us so many amazing hits, performing lead vocals on songs like Take It Easy, Peaceful Easy Feeling, Tequila Sunrise, Heartache Tonight and stacks more.
Frey last toured Australia with The Eagles in February of 2015.
His death follows the loss of fellow music stars David Bowie, Lemmy Kilmister, Stevie Wright and Scott Weiland, as well as film icon, Alan Rickman.
RIP to another legend.
UPDATE: The Eagles have posted an update, paying tribute to their late bandmate and revealing that Glenn Frey passed away following “a courageous battle for the past several weeks” with Rheumatoid Arthritis, Acute Ulcerative Colitis and Pneumonia. Read their statement below.
It is with the heaviest of hearts that we announce the passing of our comrade, Eagles founder, Glenn Frey, in New York…
