Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros Confirm Tour Next Year, Headed For Groovin The Moo 2014?

Groovin The Moo 2013 is still in the process of converting from short term memory to long term for most, but already the lineup for the 2014 event might already be taking shape right in front of our eyes. During an interview with Tone Deaf, indie folk powerhouse collective Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros have confirmed a tour for next year, bringing them to Australia smack bang in the middle of Moo time.

The hint has come from the band’s drummer and backing vocalist Orpheo McCord who revealed that the band have locked in plans for an Australian jaunt “April of next year”. Those of you who have been paying attention will know that GTM kicks off in April, spreading big name music love to regional centres around the country.

The band’s return will be in support of their latest, self-titled album and will follow on from a tour still fresh in the minds of many – their run of shows warming the crowd for Mumford & Sons in October 2012 and, as McCord explains, they thoroughly enjoyed themselves last time they were here:

“Australians, from my experience, have been so hospitable. It’s just a friendly, welcoming culture, you know, it was so easy for people to be like, ‘oh yeah mate, come on let’s go for a surf’ and we’d have a day off and go down to Byron Bay or the Gold Coast or wherever. It’s so amazing to be able to surf and go back and play a show – it’s pretty rare that you get to have that experience, so to be able to do that is so fun and so exciting,”

The self-titled album was released Friday, 26th July so it’s good and ready to be experienced.
