Fresh from the release of her debut EP, Nilotic, back in April, Nairobi-born, Adelaide-based singer, rapper, and producer, Elsy Wameyo, has announced a run of national tour dates. Wameyo will be hitting the road with her seven-piece band this August. The upcoming tour will offer fans a chance to witness all of the songs from the Nilotic EP being performed live.
Wameyo released the EP on Friday, 1st April. It’s her first collection of work and comes three years after Wameyo started sharing her music with the world.
Elsy Wameyo – ‘River Nile’
Described as both a journey of spirituality and personal growth, Nilotic takes its name from the Kenyan tribes to which Wameyo traces her heritage. Nilotic represents the Adelaide-based artist’s desire to process the frustration and sadness of the world through her music.
Elsy Wameyo will begin her tour with a hometown show at Adelaide’s The Lab on Friday, 5th August. She’ll visit Melbourne’s Northside Records for a free show on Saturday, 6th August. An appearance is scheduled for the Darwin Festival on Friday, 19th August, while Wameyo will also perform two sets at Sydney’s Phoenix Central Park on Thursday, 15th September, with tickets available via a ballot system.
