A living legend is heading our way in 2013, with none other than Elvis Costello set to embark on a national tour as part of the travelling festival A Day On The Green. The early 2013 edition of the mini-festival will see Costello perform with his trusty backing band The Imposters and join a bill that includes the original Sunnyboys, Jo Jo Zep & the Falcons, and Tex Perkins & The Dark Horses.
Not content to simply travel along the winery road, Costello will be making two stops as he travels around Australia to perform two special theatre gigs in Sydney and Melbourne. The headlining show will give Australian audiences their first ever hands-on experience with The Spectacular Spinning Songbook.
First appearing during Costello’s shows in the 80s, The Spectacular Spinning Songbook is a giant gameshow-like wheel, which showgoers spin in order to randomly select the evening’s setlist. The wheel is comprised of 40 songs, including classics, rarities and a surprise or two. For Costello’s theatre performances, the stage setting will also include a ‘society lounge’ and a go-go cage.
Tickets for all shows go on sale Monday, October 29. Head to ticketmaster.com.au or call 136 100. For information on A Day On The Green head to adayonthegreen.com.au while theatre show information can be found at frontiertouring.com.au
