In honour of his 80th birthday, the likes of Yoko Ono, Sean Lennon, and Elvis Costello have all shared congratulatory messages to Paul McCartney, with the latter two offering up respective covers of ‘Here, There And Everywhere’.
As Stereogum points out, this weekend saw Paul McCartney’s birthday celebrated by a number of his close friends and collaborators, Sean Lennon kicking off celebrations with a rendition of the 1966 Revolver track ‘Here, There And Everywhere’.

“A little birdy told me this was one of your your fav Beatles tunes. So Happy Birthday!” Lennon wrote to his late father’s bandmate. “Thank you for all the beautiful music. You have mine and the whole world’s undying love and respect. (This version is a bit rough because it’s such a pretty song I kept getting choked up and staring again!)”
Only a matter of hours later, Elvis Costello also shared a cover version in honour of The Beatle’s birthday, offering up his own rendition of the same track. Though his performance didn’t come paired with a personalised message, another post saw him echoing the opening lyrics to The Beatles’ “Birthday” while sharing a photo of the pair in the studio.

Elsewhere, Yoko Ono also shared a brief message for Paul McCartney, sharing out a picture of the pair while also expressing hopes for many more still to come.
The celebration of McCartney’s birthday also coincided with the announcement of a forthcoming box set from the veteran artist. Simply titled McCartney, the box set collects all of his self-titled releases (including 1970’s McCartney, 1980’s McCartney II, and 2020’s McCartney III) in one package for the first time, with pre-orders now available ahead of its 20th August release date.
