Evanescence’s Amy Lee Made A Children’s Album And It Is Everything

Evanescence vocalist Amy Lee is trading in her black eyeshadow and releasing a children’s album titled Dream Too Much, and she’s just given us (and kids everywhere) a taste of what’s in store.

As Rolling Stone reports, Dream Too Much will feature 12 songs, including covers of The Beatles’ Hello Goodbye and the Sesame Street classic Rubber Duckie, as well as some original compositions. The album was inspired by Lee’s experiences singing to her two-year-old son Jack, as well as the songs her father would sing to her as a child.

Beginning as a cute gift idea for her father’s 60th birthday, it grew from there, with the whole family jumping into the studio to help out. Lee’s sisters Carrie and Lori sing harmonies on the album, her uncle Tom plays guitar, bass and harmonica, and her dad plays ukulele, dobro and banjo. Even little Jack ends up making a cameo, so yeah, the Lees are pretty much just the cutest musical family ever (sorry Hanson).

If you were hoping that this change of style was a permanent move for Amy Lee however, don’t hold your breath, as the singer has confirmed that this is a one off, and she won’t be going all Barney The Dinosaur on us again anytime soon.

As she put it, “This kind of came out of a very random place and a very pure place… it was just for ourselves and it turned into something really beautiful.

“I’m not saying no but, that’s not really my plan. Who knows, maybe I’ll be the next Raffi. I can imagine us doing some isolated performances here and there but I think, really, I’m going to focus on the next thing being… more centred around my adult music career.”

You can listen to Dream Too Much‘s title track below and let all the feels wash over you, as well as a little behind-the-scenes feature on the album. The record is set for release on 30th September.
