We haven’t heard a peep from Evanescence since their 2011 record Evanescence but frontwoman Amy Lee has re-emerged with a new single.
Lee has dropped the sweeping, cinematic ‘Love Exists’, reminder us of her big, operatic vocals.
It’s more of an electronic turn for her, away from the rock world of Evanescence but it’s still got tinges of the 2000s favourites in it.
Since Evanescence, Lee has dropped a handful of solo releases but she’s mostly focussed on film scoring, doing soundtracks for War Story and Indigo Grey: The Passge.
Last year, she released a children’s album Dream Too Much but by the sounds of it, she’s ready to take on the adult music world once more.
Lee wrote on her Facebook that the new song was inspired by an Italian song ‘L’amore Esiste’ by Francesca Michielin which she heard while in Italy.
“It seemed to follow me everywhere, got under my skin and just wouldn’t leave.”
“I couldn’t stop listening to it, over and over the whole way home. I started piecing together what the lyrics meant and wrote my own twist on them in English. I showed my idea to one of my dream producers, Guy Sigsworth, and somehow convinced him to come to New York and re-create the song with me.”
