Norwegian Black Metal icons Mayhem have announced a tour of Australia in September. Renowned for establishing one of metals most controversial scenes in the early 90s, Mayhem have had a turbulent twenty six year career in which one of their lead singers killed himself, a guitarist was murdered by a rival musician and several members of the band have been involved in church burnings.
After taking an eight year break, members Atilla Csihar, Necrobutcher and Hellhammer are a part of this incarnation of Mayhem. A Mayhem live show is typically a violent and bloody affair and has been known to involve cows blood being thrown into the crowd along with animal skulls and organs. The band have also come under fire from animal rights groups for dissecting sheep on stage.
Truly an evil and macabre experience, don’t be at all surprised if controversy follows them down under as well. If you like your metal cold, black and brutal go along to see Mayhem in September. Corpse paint will be a must!
