Melbourne six-piece Lurch & Chief are heading for a very eventful 2015 with the announcement that they have joined Mushroom Group’s Illusive label. The band are celebrating the start of this new partnership by sharing a brand new single Fading Out.
Described as “a vintage-end-of-summer-stoner-psych-swirl-jam” the single sees the Lurch & Chief’s co-vocalist Lilibeth Hall take the lead, with Hayden Somerville providing support vocals. The track was written in the band’s “derelict spiritual home” in Victoria’s Halls Gap. That is, when the power was turned on.
Fading Out will feature on the band’s forthcoming EP, the follow up to 2013’s Wiped Out, expected to drop in March. They’ve even been documenting the record process for fans over on their EP Journal.
Lurch & Chief now join label mates Violent Soho, DZ Deathrays, DMA’s, Stonefield and Montgomery at their new Illusive home. The Melbourne outfit are currently on the road supporting fellow Melbourne rockers Kingswood on their national tour.
