The pop-punk universe has been wracking its brain ever since Fall Out Boy and Panic! At The Disco appeared to be teasing some kind of collaboration, but now Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz has put all that hype to bed.
Speaking with SiriusXM, Wentz says all the collab rumours swelled when he “said something dumb” on Twitter and it “just kind of ran away”. When asked if a collaboration between the two bands is actually happening, he says:
“No, I don’t think so. I mean, the door is always open, you know.”
The collaboration speculation started in May, after Fall Out Boy and Panic! At The Disco both posted teaser videos of Panic! frontman Brendon Urie eating purple cereal while dressed in the costume from the ‘Young & Menace’ music video.
Fall Out Boy added fuel to the rumours earlier this week too, when they tweeted an image of each member of the band on a Wheaties box, along with a smirk emoji in the caption:

But, alas, it looks like nothing’s happening right now.
Wentz also revealed to SiriusXM that he’d like Fall Out Boy to collaborate with Rihanna one day, because he thinks they’d “juxtapose each other well”.
So yeah, stay tuned for that, and watch Wentz’s SiriusXM interview, below.
Fall Out Boy are set to tour Australia next year, in support of their new album MANIA.
