A few weeks ago, Pete Wentz teased something new from Fall Out Boy with a tweet that simply read, “Bloom.” Now, Wentz has confirmed that a new audio-visual project is on its way, aptly revealing the news via Snapchat.
“We wanted to do something that was compelling and experiential,” he said. “You guys inspire us, so we wanted to do something that was inspiring and uplifting, and hopefully resonates.”
Wentz has also outlined the basis of Bloom in an interview with DIY in the lead up to the band’s headline set at Reading Festival.
“The idea is that it’s a companion piece for a short film – some of which we’ll play before our set,” Wentz said. “It’s all about how sometimes you have to crack a pavement before you can bloom, and that the hard shit doesn’t have to break you, it can make you a stronger person. It all kinda fits together, if it all runs smoothly!
“I think that we live in such an interesting time for art and we wanted to create something that was experiential for people.”
Upon taking to the Reading Festival stage, Wentz reportedly informed festival-goers that their set would be the final performance from the band off the back of their last record American Beauty/American Psycho. NME reports that Wentz also told the crowd that the next time we see Fall Out Boy Live, they’ll be “back with new music”.
