Well then. It appears the self-described founders of “drive-thru metal”, fast food-themed Black Sabbath covers band Mac Sabbath (we know) have announced an Australian tour – their first ever Aussie dates – for this May. Combining the music of Black Sabbath with fast food lyrics, and featuring a clown-like frontman, a “giant purple gumdrop” bass player and Tony Iommi with a giant cheeseburger head, it seems like an utterly confusing if very fun combination.
We’ve actually covered Mac Sabbath in the past. They were founded in a franchise of “a certain multinational fast food conglomerate (which shall remain nameless)” in California back in 2013.
Fronted by bright yellow and red-costumed Ronald Osborne with a cast of characters named Cat Burglar, Slayer Mac Cheeze and Grimalice, Mac Sabbath bring a culinary edge to the music by the legendary metal act with songs like ‘Sweet Beef’ and ‘More Ribs’ (yes, as in ‘War Pigs’).
Apparently Ozzy’s even a fan himself – saying, “it’s fun, they did a good job, they are funny as fuck.”
