FBi Radio Unveils 2014 Northern Lights Finalists

Sydney’s FBi Radio have announced the finalists of their nation-wide 2014 Northern Lights competition, which offers solo artists and music producers the chance to travel to Iceland to play the prestigious Iceland Airwaves Festival in November this year.

From the hundreds of entries, a shortlist of 10 acts has been announced and now a free compilation of tracks from the finalists is available for download and streaming below. Finalists include Brisbane songstress Airling who has had a busy few months on tour supporting James Vincent McMorrow, The Paper Kites and Asgeir.

Also featured is Perth electronic artist Kučka, aka Lauran Jane Lowther, who can count being sampled by none other than rapper A$AP Rocky as a career achievement as well as being asked to lay down backing vocals also to his track Fashion Killa.

For the first time since its inception in 2011, this year Northern Lights was opened to a national call out. As well as being included as part of the official lineup for Iceland’s Airwaves, the winners will get the chance to meet and network with international industry professionals, spend a day in the studio and be inspired by Iceland’s dramatic scenery.

Previous winners of Northern Lights include Oliver Tank, who recently supported Lorde on her national tour, and Sydney via Hong Kong artist Rainbow Chan, who featured in the epic Since I Left You Vivid Live extravaganza at Sydney Opera House.

Winners will be announced at the end of August, and will head over to perform in early November. Head to the FBi website for more information on each of the finalists and to download the compilation album.
