The lineup for Festival of the Sun 2013 has arrived and it looks like it’s another blistering celebration of summer, Australian music and East Coast living. The organisers have announced rockers You Am I, The Rubens and Ash Grunwald as headliners, with a slew of hot acts supporting, including The Beards, Kingswood, Spit Syndicate, and Glass Towers.
One of Australia’s hottest boutique festivals, which boasts a fabulous beachside position and an intimate capacity of just 3000, will this year play host to the likes of Stonefield, The Basics, Tigertown, The Good Ship, Howlin Steam Train, Set Sail, Gang of Brothers, and many, many more.
A perfect event for the summer, with a location situated right next to Town Beach and the Breakwall, and only a short ride from the CBD, Festival of the Sun is celebrating its 13th year as part of the Australian music scene and its ninth year as a ticketed event. The festival is a proudly BYO outdoor event taking place over 13th and 14th December, at the Sundowner Breakwall Tourist Park in Port Macquarie, on the Mid-North coast of New South Wales.
2013 will see the addition of a “Black Friday” theme, which means plenty of opportunities for creative costumes. Adherence to the theme is very much encouraged, so this year organisers are suggesting punters “think Mexican Day of the Dead fiesta, Halloween costumes, face-paint, wigs, probably a few animal one-sies and anything that screams in the night!” Besides the fun of attending a festival dressed up with all of your mates, there are prizes for best costume.
Tickets are priced at $160 + booking fee, which includes two nights free beachside camping and there are various on-site cabin accommodation/ticket packages available in conjunction with Sundowner Breakwall Tourist Park. Festival of the Sun is an 18+ event, with children under 10 receiving free entry when accompanied by an adult. Tickets will be unleashed at 10am on 3rd September through the Official FOTSUN Website.
There will only be 3000 tickets available, so you’ll have to be quick if you want to attend this summer’s most entertaining beachside costume party!
UPDATE: Festival Of The Sun is close to selling out! Promoter Scott Mesiti dropped us a line to share the good news:
“FOTSUN is selling the best it ever has. We’ve sold 85% of our ticket allocation and we’re on track for a record sell out. We’re also seeing a bigger increase in extended stays with a huge chunk of festivalgoers staying a few extra days either side of the festival.”
Sounds like now would be a good time to quit stalling and snap up that remaining 15%. Organisers are expecting the event to sell out within the next few weeks, so you’d better get cracking!
