The gaming world has merged with the real world after a band that does not actually exist IRL stormed to the top of the iTunes metal charts.
Fictitious group Pentakill from the online battle game League Of Legends hit #1 on the US list after dropping their second album II: Grasp Of The Undying on Friday.
Of course, though the ‘band’ on paper is composed of warlords from the multi-player game (with very metal names like ‘Karthus the Deathsinger’ and ‘Mordekaiser the Master of Metal’), real metal musos recorded the actual songs.
Pentakill is essentially a supergroup composed of Masterplan singer Jorn Lande, Battle Beast’s Noora Louhimo, ex-Nine Inch Nails dude Danny Lohner, producer of The Crystal Method Scott Kirkland, and Motley Crue legend Tommy Lee on the tubs.
Lande AKA Karthus says of the chart-conquering album: “It’s great for a classic heavy rocker like myself to be a part of this modern gaming music world, and I’m excited and grateful for the opportunity to work with such a great team of talented people.
“This exciting development is not just about creating an original twist to the online gaming industry, but also about pioneering some groundbreaking new metal!
