Sydney’s favourite New Year’s Day celebration, Field Day, has unveiled its timetable and maps for the first festival of 2013. Held in the famous setting of the Domain, Field Day sports a lineup that creates a strange hybrid between indie rock and electronic music, creating one of the most desirable festivals doing the rounds. The timetable may not be as obvious as you may think, with headliners Two Door Cinema Club not closing the night, playing second last before Mark Ronson closes the festival in style with his groovy DJ set.
However, in many regards it is clash city, with two of the biggest new names in electronic music Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs and Icona Pop playing at the same time, as well as Bookashade and Fake Blood. Surely there could have been a bit more organisation in the middle of the festival.
Regardless, it is still set to be one of the biggest Field Days to date with the likes of Hot Chip, SBTRKT and The Vaccines set to blast audiences away with their infamous performances. With tickets close to selling out, it’d be a smart idea to get in quickly before they are all gone. The best way to cure that New Year’s Eve hangover isn’t with rest, but with a festival – it’s common sense, right?
