Filter Address Soundwave Brisbane Issues

Industrial rock group Filter, fronted by ex-Nine Inch Nails touring member Richard Patrick, have addressed the technical issues that plagued their set at the launch of Soundwave 2014 at Brisbane’s RNA Showgrounds on Saturday, which saw their performance last only four songs.

The industrial veterans’ appearance at the festival was highly anticipated, with the group cancelling an Australian tour to appear alongside bands like Green Day and Avenged Sevenfold. However many fans were disappointed after the band’s set was cut short by sound difficulties.

“It was a trying gig to say the least.. Our rental gear came up way short.. No sound check.. I know excuses are for shit but there you have it,” wrote the band on their official Facebook page, commenting on a photo of the Brisbane crowd that also thanked them for “the warm reception.”

“We really take our shows seriously and want everything to be perfect.. Sometimes shit just gets out of hand,” they added. The band managed to perform two of their biggest hits, crossover single Hey Man Nice Shot and a collaboration with EDM duo The Crystal Method, (Can’t You) Trip Like I Do.

Festival promoter AJ Maddah was informed of the difficulties by a fan via Twitter and immediately got to work on arranging a make-up performance, first appealing to fans for a potential last-minute venue and then attempting to arrange an after-hours make-up set on festival grounds at 10:00pm.

However, despite successfully liaising with all the necessary parties, including local council, logistics once again got in the way, with Maddah tweeting, “Awesome. So I manage to talk Council, Police and venue to let Filter to play another set at 10pm. Except their gear was sent to Syd already.”
