Final BIGSOUND 2015 Speakers Announced

The final speakers heading to this year’s BIGSOUND conference have just been announced, with industry figures like NME’s new music editor Matt Wilkinson and triple j‘s Zan Rowe amongst the impressive list of special guests due to attend the Brisbane conference in just a few weeks.

The 2015 BIGSOUND panel program will take on topics like gender equality in music, the role of record stores in 2015, artist development and the new roles record labels play in the modern industry.

Representatives from international publications as well as local media, including yours truly, will be discussing all things industry-related, as well as waxing lyrical on focus panels about hip hop, heavy and electronic music, the tension between music journalism and clickbait, safety in music venues and more.

Justin Heazlewood, aka The Bedroom Philosopher (pictured), will be on hand to present his sequel address on surviving as an artist in the music industry while other artists like Birds of Tokyo’s Adam Spark, Emma Donovan, KLP, Jen Cloher, Ben Salter and more will offer their views.

The new speakers will join already announced guests like Pitchfork‘s Jessica Hopper, music industry wiz Marc Geiger, Midnight Oil frontman Peter Garrett plus rapper and activist Brother Ali when BIGSOUND 2015 takes over Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley from 9th September.

The conference’s huge lineup of musical performances includes sets from acts such as Stonefield, Muscles, Gang Of Youths, Holy Holy, The John Steel Singers and Slum Sociable, while there’s a whole host of pre-parties to get you in the mood. We suggest this one, or this one, or even this one.
