UPDATE 09/05/16: Radiohead’s new album A Moon Shaped Pool has been released. Here’s everything you need to know.
Radiohead might not be headlining Splendour In The Grass 2016 but there’s at least one piece of good news from the band’s camp this week for Aussie fans, with the band’s manager reportedly revealing Radiohead’s new album will be released this June.
David Message was speaking at an event at London venue The Wanstead Tap on Thursday, where, according to a tweet from the venue, he confirmed a June release date for the new record, which he said “will be like nothing like you’ve ever heard”.

The band themselves have not yet announced the arrival of their ninth studio album, the follow up to 2011’s The King of Limbs, but have locked in a number of festival appearances and tour dates through Europe, North America and Japan. Thom Yorke and company haven’t played in Australia since 2012.
It was suspected that a new album was imminent late last year when the band set up a company called Dawn Chorus LLP. This action mirrors the release of previous releases The King Of Limbs and In Rainbows, which were handled by separate companies set up in the months before their release.
Radiohead’s longtime art collaborator Stanley Donwood, who has created all of their album artwork since 1995’s The Bends, said last month that while the album wasn’t done at the time, it was shaping up to be “a work of art”.
It was also rumoured this week that the band had been working on a music video with There Will Be Blood director Paul Thomas Anderson.
All the evidence thus far suggests it’s just a matter of months before the follow-up to The King of Limbs is in our hands. Here’s hoping those Aussie tour dates aren’t far behind.
