Returning to Australia this March, First Aid Kit with their woodsy, folk-influenced songs and warm vocal harmonies have moved their sold-out Northcote Social Club show to The Corner Hotel to cater to their rapidly expanding fan base.
The Swedish sister duo have caused quite a stir since 2008. Their forthcoming record The Lion’s Roar is due out January 27 and already has been named album of the week by community radio stations FBI and Triple R.
The stunning video for Emmylou was released into the world last week.
The second single from The Lion’s Roar the song functions as a tribute to some of the band’s favourite country musicians, including Johnny Cash. This prompted Johnny’s daughter Roseanne Cash to tweet, “I don’t usually like ‘tribute’ songs but this is beautiful. Heartening that such young girls know the stories.”
Joining First Aid Kit at their sold-out show in Melbourne will be The Harpoons, who produce R&B pop tunes bursting with rich harmonies. Brisbane audiences will be treated to the sounds of indie dream-pop collective Little Scout, and opening in Sydney will be the abstract compositions and electro-acoustic stylings of Caitlin Park. The duo will also appear at Golden Plains, Womad, and The Speigeltent in Melbourne, which is selling fast.
