Riding on the crest of a retro soul revival, Fitz And The Tantrums are all about sexy soul tunes, crisp two-tone suits and infectious beats. Cross the style of Madmen with seriously good sounds reminiscent of Motown and you’ve got an idea of how much fun there is to be had.
It’s been a fast & furious ride for Fitz and crew. A long time fixture of the LA music scene, just a few years back Fitz came across a vintage organ and well – they fell in love and made sweet music together. Fitz shared his vision for a new soul sound with saxophonist, James King who totally got it. While the electric guitar drives rock, the sax takes center stage in soul. The Fitz And The Tantrums sound is big, fat and full but you won’t find lead guitars around this band.
You will however find Fitz accompanied by some of the most razor sharp musicians around – Motown aficionado and prolific session drummer John Wicks, former musical director and keyboardist for Macy Gray Jeremy Ruzumna, and lightning bassist Joseph Karnes. Wrap all this up with the powerful voice of fellow vocalist Noelle Scaggs and you’ve got a sensational soul ensemble keeping it real like its 1969!
About to land in the country in the country for Splendour In The Grass, Fitz And The Tantrums will be performing two shows in Sydney and Melbourne’s finest and most intimate venues for those fans who aren’t into camping and muddy amphitheatres.
So shake up a dirty martini, put on your dancing shoes and don’t miss the explosion of fun that is Fitz And The Tantrums live!
