Las Vegas nu metal outfit Five Finger Death Punch have postponed a performance in the Italian city of Milan after members of the activist group Anonymous reportedly discovered terrorist group ISIS planned to attack the show, which was slated for tonight, 22nd November.
As International Business Times reports, Anonymous’ OpParisIntel group said on Saturday that it had uncovered information about a string of planned ISIS attacks around the world, all apparently set for Sunday.
One of the public events the extremists reportedly plan to target is the Five Finger Death Punch show at Milan venue Alcatraz, which has since been cancelled.
Taking to Facebook today, Five Finger Death Punch say they took the rumours seriously, but weren’t prepared for the show to go forward.
“As some of you may be aware, there were many rumors today that the Milan show on Sunday, November 22nd will be targeted in a next wave of terror attacks like we saw in Paris last week,” the band say.
“We did our best in a very short amount of time to work with the local promoter and authorities to ensure that security would be adequate. Unfortunately, we did not receive confirmation in time to satisfy our requirements and to ensure that our fans would be safe at the event.
“Therefore, we were forced to postpone the show to a later date.”
Members of Anonymous have since tweeted saying the group didn’t spread any rumours and doesn’t know where the rumours came from, while suggesting any such claims should be taken “with a grain of salt”.
Anonymous has reportedly passed its recent findings onto intelligence agencies in Australia, the UK and the US, but has no plans to release it publicly. The group, which declared war on ISIS last week, says, “We thank those who helped us inform the authorities. We stand by our motto for this project: Better safe than sorry.”
Five Finger Death Punch’s postponement of their Milan show comes after terrorists claimed responsibility for a series of terrorist attacks in Paris last week, which has left a death toll of 130. Catch Five Finger Death Punch’s full concert cancellation statement, below.
