Another day, another development in the dramatic existence of Five Finger Death Punch.
The band have released a minute-long snippet of new music as part of video uploaded to their YouTube channel that chronicles the highlights of their current tour. The clip was uploaded with the message “there is a strong possibility that there is a snippet of a brand new song in this video…”
The band’s attempts to continue to work towards the release of a rogue new album continues to be held up by an ongoing lawsuit with their label Prospect Park, who in April accused the band of “attempting to cash in” before frontman Ivan Moody goes off the rails completely. The band responded at the time by calling the accusations a publicity stunt.
Back in May their producer Kevin Churko also claimed that Five Finger Death Punch hadn’t done anything outside the bounds of their contrack and that Prospect Park’s claims essentially have very little basis.
This video unsurprisingly didn’t include footage of Moody again leaving 5FDP’s Worcester show early or breaking down at their show in Newark a night later – both of which undoubtedly give more traction to Prospect Park’s suspicions over the band’s motivations with the new album.
So given how little we’ve heard on the progress of the album in the latter half of this year, it would be a surprise if the record or any of its singles were release anytime soon. In saying that, the very fact that this video even contains unreleased music is surely a good sign for fans of the band.
