Five New Bands Added To Soundwave Lineup

The Triple J Unearthed local additions to the imminent Soundwave Festival 2014 have been announced via Triple J as Brisbane’s Chronolyth, Sydney’s Trophy Eyes, Adelaide’s Sierra, Perth’s Xenobiotic, and Melbourne’s Ceres, who will now each be playing in their capital cities.

The Brisbane-based Chronolyth are Hamish McSorley (Vocals), Alex Nisiriou (Guitars), Jimmy Barrett (Bass), Ben Constable (Guitars), and Michael Gee (Drums). Forming in 2011, they forged a style that combines elements of melodic death metal and groove metal for an incendiary mix.

Trophy Eyes, a five-piece from Newcastle, play melodic deathcore with punk rock time signatures, pop-punk melodies, and a rock and roll-bred sense of the epic, with songs that speak of personal loss, self-destruction, and ultimate triumph over life’s odds, remaining scarred but defiant.

Adelaide four-piece Sierra unveiled a self-titled EP in February of last year and have since gone on to cement themselves as one of the local melodic hardcore scene’s most promising rising stars, amassing fans through steady rotation on Triple J and some enthusiastic word-of-mouth.

Xenobiotic take the prize for best-named group of all the new additions to the Soundwave 2014 lineup and perhaps even the best out of the entire roster. These Perth boys have received acclaim as an uncompromising metal outfit that provide a one-of-a-kind live experience for their fans.

Finally, Melbourne punters will now be treated to the punk-infused rock sounds of Ceres, an energetic Melbourne four-piece raised on alt-rock, indie, pop punk, and 90s emo, who deliver anthemic tunes that speak of rivers, roads, relationships, and failing loves in the inner city.
