Earlier this month Seattle folk outfit Fleet Foxes revealed plans for an Australian tour in 2017, and just a month before that they announced that the long awaited follow up to their 2011 album Helplessness Blues was “almost done.”
Back then, the album was still title-less, but frontman Robin Pecknold may have just accidentally revealed that the name of the album is Ylajali.
As Stereogum reports, Pecknold uploaded a screenshot of his iTunes library containing all the material by his band, and contained within that screenshot was a suspicious album cover with the title ‘Ylajali’ beneath it.
The screenshot has since been deleted, but a quick search reveals that ‘Ylajali’ is the name of a character from a Norwegian novel written in 1890 by Knut Hamsum.
The cover image is a picture of a cliff face and rocks overlooking the sea by Japanese Photographer Hiroshi Hamaya taken in 1960.
Stereogum also observe that the record label for Nonesuch Records can be seen in the bottom corner of the album cover, which could mean that Fleet Foxes have left their previous label and signed with Nonesuch for this forthcoming record.
